Steve and Susan Bender started Homestead Flower Farm 40 years ago and sold cut flower bouquets to the public for most of that time while raising six children who have been a blessing to their lives. One of their children, Erin, an army veteran, who served in Afghanistan, and who will be overseeing the Veterans program on Homestead Farm, lives on the farm also with her husband, Tim Chism, and their two children.
While we will be offering a limited number of cut flower bouquets and potted plants for sale, we are primarily offering, as a service and a ministry, an experience that we hope will enrich many lives. To this end, we are honored to be the home base for the non-profit organization, “Guardian’s Haven Project,” which hopes to serve military veterans and first responders using equine and horticultural therapy programs on the farm during the week.
